Race fans, you have two chances to meet 4 time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion Ron Hornaday this week.
Hornaday, who will be in town for the Super DIRTcar Series event at Utica-Rome Speedway on Wednesday June 24 will first make an appearance at the Stampede Steakhouse on Tuesday June 23 for their weekly Car and Bike night. Hornaday will be available for autographs for 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday and as part of their Bike Night, Stampede Steakhouse offers a BBQ buffet for just $13 and Bud and Bud Light drafts for only $1. The buffet starts at 5 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m. and their full menu is also available. Located at the corners of Route 31 and Route 365 in Verona, Stampede Steakhouse is convienently located of New York State Thruway Exit 33 and a mile from the Turning Stone Casino. On Wednesday, June 24, Hornaday will be down the road a few miles down the road for the first appearance of the Super DIRTcar Modified Series in 12 years at the Utica-Rome Speedway. Some of the top drivers in Big Block Modified racing will descend on to the Vernon oval to chase down the $6,000 payday which will include point leader Matt Sheppard, Brett Hearn, Billy Decker, Danny Johnson, Jimmy Phelps, Tim Fuller, Pat Ward, Stewart Friesen, Larry Wight, Peter Britten, Billy Dunn, Keith Flach, Mike Mahaney, and many, many more. Hornaday will be on hand for the entire event but an autograph session has been a set up for 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Pro Street Stocks will also be in on the fun as they will compete in a $500 to win, $100 to start event. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. with racing set to begin atย 7 p.m. Utica-Rome Speedway is located on Route 5, just east of the Village of Vernon. Besides being a four NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion, Hornaday has also collected 51 wins in the series since its inception, along with 27 poles and 234 top 10โs in the division throughout his impressive career. He has also won four times in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and has made several starts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
