VERNON, NY – The champions will be crowned!

This Saturday (August 20), the F.X. Caprara Car Companies ‘Thunder on the Thruway’ Series holds its sixth and final round of the 2022 championship battles.

After five events the F.X. Caprara Car Companies ‘Thunder on the Thruway’ Series points races for the Sunoco Modifieds (30 laps, $4,000 to win), Worthington Industries Crate 602 Sportsman (25 laps, $1,500 to win) and Next Generation Graphix Pro Stocks (20 laps, $1,000 to win) are all undecided going into Saturday’s racing action.

The ‘Thunder on the Thruway’ divisions join the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions 410 Sprint Cars in a rare Saturday event at Utica-Rome.

Alex Yankowski of Covington Township, Pa., is the current Sunoco Modified point leader with 227 points followed by Ronnie Johnson with 212 (-15) and Rocky Warner with 195 (-32).

The ‘Thunder on the Thruway’ Modified champion receives $4,000 from a point fund totaling $11,150 to the top-10 drivers.

Payton Talbot of South New Berlin, N.Y., is the current leader in the Worthington Industries Crate 602 Sportsman division with 274 points followed by Chad Edwards with 266 (-8), and Cody Clark with 256 (-18).

$1,000 awaits the ‘Thunder on the Thruway’ Crate 602 Sportsman title winner with the top-10 drivers sharing in $3,025.

Nick Stone of Schenectady, N.Y., is the current point leader in the Next Generation Graphix Pro Stocks with 292. Beau Ballard is 24 points back entering Saturday’s event.

The Pro Stock ‘Thunder on the Thruway’ point title winner takes home $1,000 with the $2,675 point fund.

For the August 20 program, all gates open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are slated to begin at 6:15 p.m. with racing to follow at 7 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $30 for Adults and $28 for Seniors (ages 65 and above). Kids 11 and under get in FREE.

Pit Admission is $35 for Utica-Rome Speedway members and $40 for non-members. Kids (ages 6-12) pay $10 and Children ages 5 and under are $2.

The entire night of racing will air live and on-demand on FloRacing (www.floracing.tv).
