Rain Postpones New Yorker at Utica-Rome Speedway to Monday, Sept. 6
VERNON, NY – Steady showers, coupled with a cold front bringing late afternoon rain, have forced the postponement of the New Yorker event at Utica-Rome Speedway from Sunday to Monday.
The event will now take place on Monday, Sept. 6, Labor Day.
“We have been watching the weather closely and unfortunately the forecast for late afternoon is calling for significant rainfall at 5 and 6 o’clock,” promoter Brett Deyo said. “We feel the best decision is to wait until Monday.”
The entire program will be moved to Monday: $12,000-to-win, 100-lap Sunoco Modifieds, $3,000-to-win Patriot Sprint Tour (PST) 360 Sprint Cars, $2,000-to-win Worthington Industries Crate 602 Sportsman and $1,000-to-win Next Generation Grafix Pro Stocks.
The 2021 Fuccillo Autoplex of Nelliston Thunder on the Thruway Series point titles will be decided.
Times will be moved up by one hour. Gates open at 3 p.m. Hot laps start at 5 p.m., with racing at 6 p.m.
Adult admission is $25. Seniors (ages 65 and up) pay $23. Kids 11 and under are FREE.
Pit admission is $35 (Utica-Rome members) and $40 (non-members).
