Weather claims another event at Utica-Rome Speedway on Sunday June 3
VERNON, NY- Once again, Mother Nature has shown her ugly side on race day at the Utica-Rome Speedway as she has claimed another victory at the Vernon oval, this time cancelling the June 3 program. Scheduled was another big night of racing as the King of Dirt Series for the 358-Modifieds, Sportsman, and Pro Stocks plus the Rookie Sportsman.
“As much as we want to get an event in,” stated track owner Bill Shea, “we looked at the radar and the forecast, and accounted for the travel time for many of the race teams coming in for the King of Dirt Series and made the tough decision to cancel. We didn’t want to get everyone here then turn them around and send them home when the rain came.”
The King of Dirt Series for the 358-Modifieds, Sportsman, and Pro Stocks has been rescheduled for Sunday June 24.
The Utica-Rome Speedway will be silent next Sunday June 10 as the track will host the annual FrogFest country music festival. For more information on this event, please log on to http://bigfrog104.com/frogfest/.
Racing action will return to track on Sunday June 17 when the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints join a full show of DirtTrackDigest.com 358-Modifieds, Broedel Energy Sportsman, Ted’s Body Shop Pro Stocks, and Rookie Sportsman. Race time is set for 6 p.m. with gates opening at 3 p.m.
